Tempo calendar - Tenpo-reki

Japanese: 天保暦 - てんぽうれき
Tempo calendar - Tenpo-reki

This refers to Japan's last lunisolar calendar system, and the calendar compiled based on it. Astronomer Shibukawa Kagesuke and others received orders from the shogunate to reform the calendar, and in 1842 (Tenpo 13) completed nine volumes of the "Shinpo Rekisho" based on the "Shinko Rekisho." This was presented to them by Abe Haruo, head of the Onmyou Bureau, and given the name "Tenpo Jin'ingen Reki," which came into effect in 1844 (Koka 1). It was the first in Japan to adopt the fixed-qi method. It was in effect for 29 years until the solar calendar was implemented in 1873 (Meiji 6).
