The Last Commandments of Lord Kujo

Japanese: 九条殿遺誡 - くじょうどのいかい
The Last Commandments of Lord Kujo
This is a set of family precepts written by the Minister of the Right Fujiwara no Michisuke on what one should be mindful of as a nobleman. It was compiled in the mid-10th century. It contains detailed instructions on all aspects of the life of a nobleman, such as what to do after waking up each day, etiquette for daily life, and what to be mindful of when attending court, and has been highly valued by generations to come. The title of the book comes from the fact that Michisuke's first residence was in Kujo. The Toyo Bunko has one volume of manuscript from the early Muromachi period entitled "Seika." It is also included in the Shukaisho. Included in Gunsho Ruiju. [Yoshioka Saneyuki]
