〘noun〙① division. ② something that is kept secret from the outside world. Also, something that is not made public. Confidential. Secret. Fan. *Kabuki play, Yojiko Takiuchi (1753), explanation: "Whether this is an internal division or not, it is called a council." ③ (━suru) In mathematics, the division of a line segment into two lines at any one point on it. For example, when point P is on line segment AB, point P is said to divide line segment AB internally into PA:PB. ⇔External division. ④ (━suru) The division of the main family's fiefdom to subordinate families, with the main family claiming title to the entire stipend. *Public Council Journal - 5th April, 1869 (Meiji 2) "The head family's stipend will be divided internally."
