...A sect of sect Shinto based at Izumo Taisha Shrine. Its founder, Senge Takatomi (1845-1918), in order to thoroughly indoctrinate the people with Shintoism, gathered together the Izumo Taisha Keishinko in 1873, renamed it the Taisha Kyokai in 1876, built the Taisha Kyokai Main Temple in Kitsuki (now Taisha Town, Hikawa County, Shimane Prefecture) in 1879, and worked hard to educate the people. He also advocated the enshrinement of Okuninushi-no-kami, who presides over the underworld, in addition to the four deities enshrined in the Daikyoin, Amenominakanushi-no-kami, Takamimusubi-no-kami, Kamimusubi-no-kami, and Amaterasu-okami, and engaged in a debate with the Ise faction over the deity to be enshrined. *Some of the terminology that refers to the "Izumo Taisha Keishinko" is listed below.
