She was the birth mother of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Her name was Naka. She is said to have been born in Aichi County, Owari Province. She married Kinoshita Yaemon (there is some doubt about his surname) and gave birth to Tomo (Tomo, wife of Miyoshi Yoshifusa) and Hideyoshi. After Yaemon's death, she remarried to Oda Doboshu member Chikuami and gave birth to Hidenaga and Asahihime (wife of Tokugawa Ieyasu) (the father-daughter relationship is also disputed). She moved with Hideyoshi to Nagahama Castle and other locations, and after Osaka Castle was built, she lived within the castle. In 1585 (Tensho 13), when Hideyoshi became Kanpaku, she was given the title of Omandokoro. After Hideyoshi's defeat at Nagakute in Owari and the peace treaty, she went to Okazaki as a hostage in 1586 to encourage Ieyasu to come to Kyoto. Ieyasu therefore went to Kyoto and paid tribute to Hideyoshi at Osaka Castle. Hideyoshi fell seriously ill during the Korean expedition, and in 1592 (Bunroku 1), after arriving in Nagoya in Hizen, he stopped sailing. In July, she died at Jurakudai in Kyoto. She was posthumously awarded the title of Jusango.
