Tensui Sho

Japanese: 天水抄 - てんすいしょう
Tensui Sho
A treatise on haiku by Teitoku. Published in 1644 (Shoho 1). It is a secret book and there is no published version. It is unrelated to the published renga book "Tensui-sho." There are booklets and scrolls, and according to the former, the first volume describes the rules of the meeting, the difference between renga and haikai, the essence of haikai, rules, and oral tradition of "te ni wa," while the second volume is written in a casual conversation style on the manner of attaching a verse, how to attach it, the method of composing verses such as hokku, kireji, and how to write kaishi. It is an excellent resource for understanding Teitoku's views on haiku and rules. [Inui Hiroyuki]
