An evergreen tree of the Hypericaceae family found on tropical coasts. It can reach a height of 20 m and a diameter of 1 m, and is entirely hairless. The leaves are elliptical or obovate-elliptical, 9-18 cm long, with rounded tips, no sawtooth edges, and numerous transverse parallel veins. The axillary racemes are single and bear 7-13 flowers. The flowers are white, with 4 petals, 2-2.5 cm across, 4 sepals, and numerous stamens. The fruit is a globular drupe, 3-4 cm across.
