Kim Il Sung University

Japanese: 金日成総合大学 - きんにっせいそうごうだいがく

A national university for training national cadres in Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It was founded in October 1946 on a vast site at the top of Mount Ryongnam, overlooking the entire city, based on the instructions of Chairman Kim Il-sung, who said, "We will overcome all difficulties and put education and cadre training above all else." Wonsan Agricultural University, Pyongyang Medical University, and Kim Chaek University of Technology are the original faculties of the university that were separated. Currently, it has faculties such as history, economics, philosophy, law, Korean language, Korean literature, foreign language literature, physics and mathematics, chemistry, biology, geography, geology, nuclear power, and computer science, as well as eight research institutes, a three-year graduate school, a one-year special graduate school, and a two-year doctoral school.

朝鮮民主主義人民共和国の首都平壌にある，民族幹部養成のための国立総合大学。1946年10月，〈あらゆる困難をのりこえて，教育と幹部養成をすべてに先行させる〉という金日成主席の指示に基づいて，市内が一望のもとに見渡せるリョンナム山頂の広大な敷地に創建。元山農業大学，平壌医科大学，金策工業大学は当初の同大学の学部が独立したもの。現在，歴史，経済，哲学，法学，朝鮮語，朝鮮文学，外国語文学，物理学･数学，化学，生物学，地理学，地質学，原子力，コンピューター科学などの学部と，8研究所を置き，3年制の研究院，1年制の特設研究院，その上に2年制の博士院がある。
