...A city located in the northern part of Okayama Prefecture, occupying the Tsuyama Basin and the surrounding mountainous areas. It was incorporated as a city in 1929. Its population was 91,170 (1995). The city center is located on the banks of the Yoshii River, with Mount Kakuzan behind it.
