A former town in Higashiyatsushiro County in central Yamanashi Prefecture. The northwestern half is part of the Kofu Basin, and the southeastern half is part of the Misaka Mountains. The area produces peaches and grapes, and is the largest producer of peaches in Japan. It is home to Sengen Shrine in Ichinomiya, Kai Province, the ruins of Kai Kokubunji Temple (historic site), and the ruins of Kai Kokubunji Nunnery (historic site). The town is served by the Chuo Expressway. In October 2004, it was incorporated as a city by merging with Kasugai Town in Higashiyamanashi County, and Isawa Town, Misaka Town, Yatsushiro Town, and Sakaigawa Village in Higashiyatsushiro County, to form Fuefuki City. Area: 30.62 km2 . Population: 11,410 (2003).

A town in Chosei County in south-central Chiba Prefecture. Facing the Pacific Ocean, it occupies the southernmost part of the Kujukuri Plain. The city center developed as a market town and a gate town for Tamasaki Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Kazusa Province, and is served by the Sotobo Line. Rice, vegetable cultivation, dairy farming, etc. are carried out in the town. The town is one of the top producers of tomatoes and cucumbers in the prefecture. Melons are also produced. The coast is home to villas and a swimming beach. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 22.97 km2 . Population: 12,034 (2010).

An old town in the west of Awaji Island, Tsuna District, Hyogo Prefecture. Gunge, in the center, is a port of call on the west coast route and a key transportation point to the east coast. Incense and mandarin oranges are local specialties, and sea bream, mullet, and other fish are caught mainly at the fishing ports of Ei and Ozaki. Aquaculture is also practiced. The coast is a swimming beach, and Izanagi Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Awaji Province, is located here. In April 2005, it was incorporated as a city by merging with Tsuna Town, Awaji Town, Kita Awaji Town, and Higashiura Town in Tsuna District to form Awaji City. 40.15 km2 . Population 9,479 (2003).

A former town in Hoi County in the north of the Toyohashi Plain in southeastern Aichi Prefecture. Agriculture is carried out using the Toyokawa irrigation system, and the town produces rice, vegetables, fruit, and other crops. The city center has developed on the terraces on the right bank of the Toyokawa River, and the Iida Line runs through the town. Machinery manufacturing has been established here, and the area adjacent to Toyokawa City is also becoming a residential area. Toga Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Mikawa Province, is located here. It was incorporated into Toyokawa City in February 2006. 36.61 km2 . Population: 16,286 (2003).

The forests are protected as a former imperial domain, and the town produces lumber and wood products. It also manufactures somen noodles. It is home to Iwa Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Harima Province. In April 2005, it merged with Yamazaki Town, Haga Town, and Chikusa Town in Shiso County to become a city, Shiso City. Area: 213.84 km2 . Population: 10,904 (2003).

兵庫県津名郡,淡路島西部の旧町。中心の郡家(ぐんげ)は西岸航路の寄港地,東岸への交通要地。線香,ミカンを特産,漁港の江井,尾崎を中心にタイ,ボラなどを漁獲。養殖漁業も行う。海岸は海水浴場。淡路国一宮の伊弉諾(いざなぎ)神宮がある。2005年4月津名郡津名町,淡路町,北淡町,東浦町と合併し市制,淡路市となる。40.15km2。9479人(2003)。

愛知県南東部,豊橋平野北部の宝飯(ほい)郡の旧町。豊川用水による農業が行われ,米,野菜,果樹などを産する。中心市街は豊(とよ)川右岸の段丘上に発達,飯田線が通じ,機械工業が進出,豊川市隣接地区の住宅地化も進む。三河国一宮砥鹿(とが)神社がある。2006年2月豊川市へ編入。36.61km2。1万6286人(2003)。
