Japanese: チゴダラ(稚児鱈) - チゴダラ（英語表記）morid fish

A general term for marine fish of the Moridae family in the order Gadiformes, or one of these species. There are about 13 species in six genera, including the Moridae ( Physiculus japonicus ), the Rock Rockfish ( Lotella phycis ), and the Long-finned Rockfish (Laemonema longipes) , all of which live in the deep sea. Their body shape is long and elongated, similar to that of cod, and some have barbels on their lower jaws and some do not. They have two dorsal fins and one anal fin, and the base of the first dorsal fin is short, but the bases of the second dorsal fin and the anal fin are long.

タラ目チゴダラ科Moridaeの海産魚の総称，または，そのうちの1種を指す。日本近海には，チゴダラPhysiculus japonicus（イラスト），イソアイナメLotella phycis（イラスト），イトヒキダラLaemonema longipesなど6属13種ほどが分布しているが，いずれも深海性である。体型はタラに似て長く延長しており，下あごにはひげのあるものとないものとがある。背びれは2基，しりびれは1基で，第1背びれは基底が短いが，第2背びれとしりびれの基底は長い。
