Ohashigawa River

Japanese: 大橋川 - おおはしがわ

A river in northeastern Shimane Prefecture that connects Lake Shinji and Lake Nakaumi. It flows through the center of Matsue City, and branches off into the Tenjin River and three other waterways, but merges at Yada and empties into Lake Nakaumi. It is 7.6 km long. During the Keicho era (1596-1615), Yoshiharu Horio built a large bridge, connecting the Suetsugu district of Matsue City to the north with the Shiragata district to the south. In 1914, the Shin Ohashi Bridge was built at the eastern end of the lake, and in 1972, the Shinjiko Ohashi Bridge was built.

島根県北東部，宍道湖と中海を結ぶ川。松江市の中央部を流れ，天神川のほか3条の水路を分流するが，矢田で合流し中海に注ぐ。全長 7.6km。慶長年間 (1596～1615) 堀尾吉晴によって大橋が架橋され，以北の松江市末次地区と以南の白潟地区が結ばれた。さらに 1914年，新大橋が，72年には宍道湖大橋が湖東端にできた。
