A city located in the Nobi Plain on the left bank of the Kiso River, in the northwestern corner of Aichi Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1921. The city center developed as a market town with Torii-mae-cho of Owari Ichinomiya Masumida Shrine at its core. It is served by the Tokaido Main Line, Bisai Line, Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line, and Meishin Expressway. It is the center of the Bisai textile industry, and once produced cotton cloth, but now produces a lot of woolen textiles, and has many related companies such as dyeing and wholesale. In recent years, the electrical equipment industry has also grown. It is also becoming a satellite city of Nagoya City. In April 2005, Bisai City and Kisogawa Town, Haguri County, were incorporated. 113.82 km2 .
