August Stramm

A German poet who put into practice the language destruction and language creation of Expressionism. Born in Münster. Died on the Eastern Front during World War I. Published avant-garde works in the magazine Sturm in a style characterized by extreme compression. Later, he influenced Dadaism, and then experimental poetry such as Letris and Poésie Concrete after World War II. His poetry collections include "You - A Love Poem" (1914) and "Drops of Blood" (1919), as well as plays.

表現主義の言語破壊と言語創造を実践したドイツの詩人。ミュンスター生まれ。第一次世界大戦中、東部戦線にて戦死。『シュトゥルム』誌上に、極度な圧縮を特徴とする文体で前衛的作品を発表。のちにダダイスムを経て、第二次大戦後のレトリスムス、ポエジー・コンクレートなどの実験詩に至るまで影響を与えた。詩集に『きみ――愛の詩』(1914)、『滴(した)たる血』(1919)、ほかに戯曲もある。
