Italian sculptor. Born into a family of stonemasons in Florence, he was registered with the local sculptors' guild in 1453. During his short career, he was mainly involved in the production of the Tomb of Carlo Malzuppini in the Church of Santa Croce in Florence and the altar sculpture for the Sacristy of the Church of San Lorenzo. He excelled in bas-relief sculpture, and was influenced by Donatello's stiacciato technique, but in contrast to Donatello's intense emotional expression and powerful realism, his work is characterized by delicate decorative effects that soften the light and wrap it in light and shade.

イタリアの彫刻家。フィレンツェの石工の家に生まれ，1453年に同地の彫刻家組合に登録される。短い活動期間は，おもにフィレンツェのサンタ･クローチェ教会の〈カルロ･マルズッピーニ墓碑〉や，サン･ロレンツォ教会聖器室の祭壇彫刻の制作にあてられた。浅浮彫彫刻に優れ，ドナテロの〈スティアッチャートStiacciato〉技法の影響を受けてはいるが，ドナテロの激しい感情表現や力強いリアリズムとは逆に，光を柔らかく明暗のうちに包む繊細な装飾的効果を特徴とする。
