...Lord of Takahara-go, Yoshiki-gun, Hida Province, during the late Muromachi and Sengoku periods. It is doubtful that they were descended from Terutsune, the son of Taira no Tsunemori. In 1372 (Bunchu 1, Oan 5), Ema Tajima Shiro, and in 1471 (Bunmei 3), Ema Samanosuke, were ordered by the shogunate to secure the Yamashina family territories, including Hida Okamoto Jojoho. Both were related to the Ise clan, and Samanosuke appears to have been an illegitimate son of Ise Sadamune in the Ishiyama Honganji Diary, and appears to have succeeded the Ema clan. They were also related by marriage to the Ogasawara clan, the governor of Shinano Province, and in the Onin War they sided with Hosokawa Katsumoto, and in 1889 (Entoku 1), when Banri Shuku visited, they advanced into Kojo-go. ...
