Fusekiji Temple

Japanese: 浮石寺 - ふせきじ
Fusekiji Temple

A famous temple in Korea (Republic of Korea). It was established in 676 by Emperor Uisang as the main training center for Kegon. It is located on the slope of Mt. Bonghwangsan, deep in the heart of the Taebaek mountain range from Yeongju in North Gyeongsang Province, and the temple tower stands on a high stone platform built in layers. There is a bell tower with a plaque called Bonghwangsan Buseoksa, and further up is Anyangro, a masterpiece of Yi dynasty architecture, and the main hall Muryangjuden. Muryangjuden is said to have been rebuilt in 1376 and conveys the essence of Goryeo wooden architecture. The main image, Amitabha Buddha, an octagonal stone lantern from the Silla period in the front garden, and a 5.62-meter-tall three-story stone pagoda from the Silla period on another high spot are all national treasures.
