Magpie‐lark (Earth-nesting bird)

A species of bird in the family Grallina, a passerine bird, or a general term for birds in the family Grallina. The Grallina cyanoleuca is about 27 cm long. Its plumage is a rough black and white pattern, and the males and females have different patterns on their heads. It is widely distributed across mainland Australia, living in open woodlands, farmland, near houses, parks, and other places with water and open spaces. It is a resident bird, but migrates depending on the season. It lives in small groups outside the breeding season, and young birds form flocks of their own in the autumn. Its beak is somewhat long and thin, and it mainly forages on the ground, mainly eating insects, but also eats a lot of seeds and berries.
