Albergo dei nobili (English: albergo dei nobili)

…the Genoese albergo was a family association of the city's nobility. Its correct name is the "albergo dei nobili" (albergo of the nobility). It was the same kind of association as the "società dei torri" (societe of the towers) that existed in other Italian cities around the 12th century, but in the case of Genoa, it exerted great influence in city politics and international commerce from the 12th to the 16th centuries.
