A path through which information is transmitted. In the field of communications, it means a one-way path, and a path going back and forth is called a line. More specifically, it is the part that exists between the encoder (→ coding) and the decoder. In other words, it refers to the part that exists between when the encoded signal is modulated, when it passes through the actual transmission medium, and when it is demodulated. Therefore, communication paths are discussed while also taking into account the effects of distortion and noise.
