...A type of jasper bracelet from the Kofun period. A collector in the Edo period saw that the shape resembled a hoe and began calling it a hoe-shaped stone or a fox hoe-shaped stone, a name that has continued to this day. One end of the irregular egg-shaped ring is particularly flattened and widened, which may have reminded people of the blade of a hoe.
