New Palace of Westminster

…The Palace of Westminster, which had been the seat of Parliament since the 16th century, burned down in 1834, and the building was built in the Gothic or Elizabethan style, after public competition for designs. At the time, it was called the New Palace of Westminster. The architect was John Barry.
