[Born] Qianlong 33 (1768) [Died] Daoguang 2 (1822) A Chinese literati, calligrapher and seal engraver of the Qing Dynasty. Born in Qiantang (Zhejiang Province). His pen name was Zigong, and his pen names included Mansheng and Mangong. He was a congongsheng (recommended scholar) in 1801, and was appointed Tongzhi of the Department of Marine Defense. He established a school of poetry, calligraphy, painting and seal carving, each with their own unique style. His calligraphy in particular is highly praised for its elegant style. He was one of the Eight Masters of Xiling in seal carving, and his seal engravings include the "Seal Engravings of the Zhongyu Immortal House." He was also skilled in pottery making, and his Mansheng vases with inscriptions engraved on them were highly valued.
