Thin plate - Usuita (English spelling) sheet

A term for thick plates. In the case of steel plates, it generally refers to plates with a thickness of 3 mm or less, but in the case of non-ferrous materials, it can refer to plates that are thinner. There are many types of steel plates, including low-carbon steel, stainless steel, and electromagnetic steel (also called electric steel). Of these, low-carbon steel is the most widely produced, and includes hot-rolled steel plates that are rolled while still red hot, cold-rolled steel plates that are rolled at room temperature, and surface-treated steel plates that are plated or chemically treated after rolling. Hot-rolled steel plates are used when no particular surface condition is required, or are used after painting. Cold-rolled steel plates are used in applications that require beautiful surface properties, such as automobiles and refrigerators, and are also used as the base plate for tin-coated steel plates (tinplate) and zinc-plated steel plates (galvanized iron sheets). Colored galvanized steel sheets (colored steel sheets), used for roofing, are galvanized steel sheets that are painted and baked on both or one side. PVC steel sheets are coated with a polyvinyl chloride film. Beer cans are made from surface-treated steel sheets such as tinplate.

Thin sheets of non-ferrous materials are pressed into various products, or punched out to make small parts (hoops).

厚板plateに対する用語。鋼板では一般に厚さ3ミリメートル以下のものをいうが、非鉄材料ではもっと薄いものをいうこともある。鋼板では低炭素鋼、ステンレス鋼、電磁鋼板（電気鉄板ともいう）など種類が多い。このうち生産量のもっとも多いのが低炭素鋼板であり、これには、赤熱状態で圧延されたままの熱延鋼板と、室温で圧延仕上げされた冷延鋼板、および圧延後めっきや化学処理などを施した表面処理鋼板がある。熱延鋼板は表面状態をとくに要求されないものや、あとで塗装仕上げをして使用される鋼板である。冷延鋼板は自動車や冷蔵庫など表面性状の美しさが要求される場合に用いられ、またスズ引き鉄板（ブリキ）や亜鉛めっき鉄板（トタン）の原板に用いられる。屋根葺(ふ)きなどに用いられる着色亜鉛鉄板（カラー鉄板）は亜鉛鉄板の両面または片面に塗装、焼き付けたものをいう。塩化ビニルの皮膜をつけたものが塩ビ鉄板である。ビール缶はブリキなど表面処理鋼板でつくられる。

　非鉄材料の薄板は、プレス加工して種々の製品に成形されるほか、打ち抜いて小さい部品をつくる素材として用いるための帯板（フープhoop）とされる。
