Died: August 1961. Beijing. Chinese politician and businessman. A leading figure among overseas Chinese in Singapore. While managing a rubber plantation in Singapore for many years, he also had an interest in education. Since 1912, he has used his own money to build various schools, including a middle school and a normal school, in his hometown of Jimei, developing it into Jimei University Village, and in 1921 he founded Xiamen University. During World War II, he was a central figure in the southern overseas Chinese's anti-Japanese and national salvation movement, and was active in anti-Japanese propaganda, anti-Japanese trade, and volunteer organization. After meeting Mao Zedong and Zhu De in Yan'an in 1940, he became a supporter of the Chinese Communist Party, and after the establishment of the People's Republic of China, he held various important positions, including Standing Committee Member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

中国の政治家，実業家。シンガポール華僑の大立者。シンガポールで長くゴム園を経営するかたわら，教育事業にも関心を寄せ，1912年以来，私費を投じて郷里集美に，中学校，師範学校など各種の学校を建てて集美学村に発展させ，21年には厦門大学を設立した。第2次世界大戦中は南方華僑の抗日救国運動の中心的人物として，抗日宣伝や日貨排斥，義勇軍の組織などに奔走した。 40年延安で毛沢東，朱徳と会見してから中国共産党の支持者となり，人民共和国成立ののち全国人民代表大会常務委員会常務委員，政治協商会議副主席など各種の要職についた。
