A general term for insects belonging to the Orthoptera, Gryllidae, and Okamekorogi genus. Males have a flat face, reminiscent of the mask of a female cricket, hence the name. Females have a spherical head like other crickets. They are medium-sized crickets that live in fields, forests, and rice paddies, and are called the Haraokamekorogi L.arietulus , the Moriokamekorogi L. sp., and the Tambookamekorogi L.aomoriensis , respectively. Haraokamekorogi L.arietulus also lives in grasslands, and males chirp "riririri, riririri" at night. They are found in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and the Ryukyu Islands. The Mitsukado cricket L.doenitzi , whose males have a unique face, also belongs to this group.
