Also known as the "Hishizume Festival". A Shinto ritual to prevent fires. On the night of the last day of the 6th month of the lunar calendar or the last day of the 12th month, fires were lit at the four corners of Miyagi, and a secret ritual handed down by the Urabe clan was performed. The Michiae Festival was also held on the same day, and together they were also called the Shikaku Shisakai Festival. Even today, fire-extinguishing ceremonies are held at Iwakisan Shrine in Aomori Prefecture and other shrines around the country. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
