Chiriqui Mountain (English spelling)

Japanese: チリキ[山]（英語表記）Volcán de Chiriquí

An extinct volcano in western Panama. It is also called Mount Baru. It is the highest peak in Panama, with an elevation of 3,477m. It is located 46km north-northwest of David, near the border with Costa Rica, at the eastern end of the Talamanca Mountains, which extend east from Costa Rica. The volcano's body is covered with a large amount of ejecta, and the crater has been destroyed, leaving almost no trace of its original form. The southern slope has fertile volcanic soil and is one of the country's main coffee-growing areas. [Tajima Hisashi]
