Changsu-wang (King of Longevity)

Japanese: 長寿王 - ちょうじゅおう(英語表記)Changsu-wang
Changsu-wang (King of Longevity)
[Birth] King Gwanggaeto 3 (394)
[Death] King Choju 79 (491)
The 20th king of Goguryeo, Korea (reigned 413-491). His given name was Georyeon, and his posthumous name was Kang. He was the son of King Gwanggaeto. As soon as he ascended to the throne, he followed his father's wishes and established diplomatic relations with the Song and Wei dynasties of China to maintain his position. In the 15th year of his reign as King Jangsu (427), he moved the royal capital from Namseong to Pyongyang and began a southward expansion policy. As part of his southward expansion strategy, he first invaded the northern borders of Baekje and Silla, but in 63, the king himself led his troops and captured Hanseong, the capital of Baekje. In 69, he invaded the northern border of Silla and captured seven castles, including Komei Fortress, but was defeated by the troops of Silla, Baekje, and Gaya when he advanced to Mijibu. However, during his 80-year reign, the king gained the former territories of Lelang and Daifang in the south, and the area from the Liao River to the northeast of China in the west, and he also strengthened his domestic affairs, bringing Goguryeo to its peak. He also accepted the exile of the King of Yan and advanced into the Liaodong region.
