Titanium carbide, also known as titanium carbide. Chemical formula: TiC. Melting point: 3193±56°C, specific gravity: 4.9, Vickers hardness: approximately 3200. TiC-based cemented carbide made by adding molybdenum (Mo) or molybdenum carbide ( Mo2C ) to TiC powder and binding metal powder is used for cutting tools. Sintered bodies made by bonding metal oxides or carbides with cobalt (Co) or nickel (Ni) are generally called cermets, but in Japanese tool industry, cermet tools refer to these TiC-based tools.
