...Many of the Kagekiyo stories, including "Kagekiyo Shusse" by Chikamatsu Monzaemon and "Dannoura Kabuto Gunki" by Bunkodo and Hasegawa Senshi, are adaptations or adaptations of the Kōwakamai dance "Kagekiyo", but there are also adaptations of the Noh play "Kagekiyo" with Kagekiyo's daughter Hitomaru as the heroine, such as "Kamakura Sode Nikki" (author unknown). The connection between Kagekiyo and the blind and the blind can be seen from the fact that Miyazaki in Hyuga, where Kagekiyo was exiled (or given land), has a shrine to Kagekiyo, Ikime Hachiman Shrine, which was a base for blind monks in the Hyuga region throughout the early modern period. It is said that there was once a sect of blind monks founded by Kagekiyo on Mount Haguro in Dewa, and that one of the folk tales of the "Netaro next door" type tells us that Netaro's ancestor was actually Aku Shichibei Kagekiyo because there was a "group of blind people who traced Kagekiyo to their origin" and they were involved in the dissemination of the folk tale. ...

…近松門左衛門作《出世景清》，文耕堂･長谷川千四合作《壇浦兜軍記》をはじめ，景清物の多くは幸若舞《景清》をもとに，翻案･改作したものだが，作者未詳の《鎌倉袖日記》のように景清の娘の人丸をヒロインとした謡曲《景清》の翻案もある。　景清と盲目･盲人との結びつきは，景清が流された(または所領を与えられた)日向の宮崎に，景清をまつる生目（いきめ）八幡社があり，近世を通じて日向地方の盲僧の拠点になっていたことからもわかる。出羽の羽黒山には，かつて景清を開祖とする盲僧派があったといわれ，また〈隣の寝太郎〉型の昔話の一つに，寝太郎の先祖じつは悪七兵衛景清とするのも，〈景清を元祖とする盲人の一群〉があって，彼らが昔話の伝播にあずかったためといわれる。…
