The API (American Petroleum Institute) oil-water separator, which is often used as an oil-water separator for oil-containing wastewater from oil refineries, has many horizontal plates placed in a tank to remove sedimentary particles and continuously separate and collect oil droplets larger than 150 μm. The PPI (parallel plate interceptor) method, which inserts many parallel inclined plates in the tank instead of horizontal plates to increase the effective separation area, and the CPI (corrugated plate interceptor) oil-water separator shown in the figure replaces the inclined plates with corrugated plates instead of flat plates, is effective for separating oil droplets larger than 60 μm, and has the advantage of reducing the installation area. …
