A Chinese custom of admiring the full moon on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. Mooncakes, melons, and fruits are offered to the moon in the garden, and people enjoy offering edamame and cockscomb flowers. Among merchants and industrialists, it is one of the three major trading settlement periods, along with the Dragon Boat Festival and New Year's gift-giving, and has been widely practiced by the general public since the Tang Dynasty. It is almost the same custom as the Japanese moon-viewing on the 15th night of the 8th lunar month, and has also influenced Korea and Vietnam.
