An ancient village in Omi Province, later became a manor of Todaiji Temple in Nara. It is currently located in Binmanji, Taga Town, Shiga Prefecture. The 751 Todaiji Omi Province Development Map (held in the Shosoin Repository) lists 30 cho of "Minuma Village." Prior to this, it was developed by public force using regular taxes from Omi Province under the orders of the Daijokan (Grand Council of State), and was donated to Todaiji Temple and became a manor of the temple. In 998, 7 cho 8 tan of Mizunuma Shoden was used for the Sentoue ceremony on November 14th. Mizunuma Pond, which forms the eastern boundary, almost coincides with the current Daimon Pond, and excavations in 1976 and 1977 uncovered many remains of post-hole buildings from the 11th to 13th centuries, confirming, at least in part, the description on the development map.
