In 1131, he painted the Nine-Level Mandala on the back wall of the Buddha at Jobōdai-in Temple, which was built within the Toba Palace (Imperial Palace) in Toba, Yamashiro (Kyoto Prefecture). In 1132, together with Ōgen, he worked on the coloring and pillar paintings at Shokomyo-in Temple, and in 1143, he painted the pillar paintings at Kongōshin-in Temple, contributing to the construction of temples under the cloistered rule of Emperor Toba.
