Kawamata

A district in the northern part of Hanyu City, Saitama Prefecture. Former Kawamata Village. It was named after the junction of the Aino River, formerly the Tone River, and the Tone River. It is located along the Tone River, and in the Edo period, it was the site of Kawamata Checkpoint on the Nikko Back Street. The remains of Kawamata Checkpoint are a prefectural designated historic site. The Saitama Irrigation Canal and Kasai Irrigation Canal pass through the area.

埼玉県羽生市(はにゅうし)の北部にある一地区。旧川俣村。旧利根(とね)川である会(あい)ノ川と、利根川の分岐点にあたるのでこの名がついた。利根川沿いにあり、江戸時代は日光裏街道の川俣関所があった。川俣関所跡は県指定の旧跡となっている。埼玉用水、葛西(かさい)用水が通る。
