A district in the northern part of Hanyu City, Saitama Prefecture. Former Kawamata Village. It was named after the junction of the Aino River, formerly the Tone River, and the Tone River. It is located along the Tone River, and in the Edo period, it was the site of Kawamata Checkpoint on the Nikko Back Street. The remains of Kawamata Checkpoint are a prefectural designated historic site. The Saitama Irrigation Canal and Kasai Irrigation Canal pass through the area.
