A powerful clan in Tannowa Manor, Izumi Province (present-day Tannowa area, Misaki Town, Sennan County, Osaka Prefecture). Also called "Tannowa-ji." In the early Kamakura period, Tachibana Kaneshige, who was granted the position of shiji (lower official) of Tannowa Manor by Minamoto no Yoritomo, fought with the lord of the manor over the withholding of taxes, and in 1234 (Bunreki 1), the lord of the manor, Kujo Ryohei, banned Kaneshige from calling himself Jito. Furthermore, Tachibana Shigemoto (who claimed the Tannowa clan) also tried to expand his influence, clashed with the lord of the manor, and was dismissed from his official position. In 1333 (Ganko 3), Tannowa Shoen belonged to Ashikaga Takauji, and Shigeuji played an active role in Takauji's campaign to the east in 1336 (Engen 1/Kenmu 3).
