This large bookstore opened in front of the Yaesu exit of Tokyo Station in March 1978. It was founded in accordance with the will of Morinosuke Kashima, founder of Kajima Construction and first president of Kajima Publishing. With a sales floor area of 2,300m2, it was the largest in Japan at the time. In response to readers' complaints about the publishing industry, such as "not being able to get the books I want as often as I like," it attracted attention with its stock of millions of books and catchphrase "We have everything." At the same time, it was a time when existing large bookstores were expanding their number of stores, so it attracted attention in the bookstore industry as a typical example of a new entrant from another industry.

1978年3月に東京駅八重洲口前に開店した大型書店。鹿島建設の創立者であり，鹿島出版会の初代社長の鹿島守之助の遺志で創立。売場面積750坪で当時としては日本一の規模であった。〈欲しい本が思うように入手できない〉という，出版界に対する読者の不満にこたえるべく，在庫数百万冊，〈何でもそろう〉のキャッチフレーズで話題になった。同時に，既存大型書店が多店化を展開している時期でもあったため，他業種からの新規参入の典型として，書店界で注目された。
