Hot air bubbles - Netsukiho

A relatively small mass of rising air that occurs when the lower atmosphere is heated irregularly. It is also called Thermik (German) or thermal. In the narrow sense, it can refer to an isolated mass of air called a bubble that occurs when the atmosphere is heated intermittently. If the heating is continuous, it becomes a feather-like flow called a plume. Thermal bubbles rise and form cumulus clouds when they reach the condensation height or higher.

下層大気が不規則に加熱された場合生ずる比較的小規模の上昇する空気の塊。テルミクThermik（ドイツ語）、サーマルthermalともいう。狭義には、間欠的に加熱されたときに発生するバブルとよばれる孤立した気塊をさすことがある。なお、加熱が連続である場合はプリュームplumeとよばれる羽毛状の流れとなる。熱気泡は上昇し凝結高度以上になると積雲をつくる。
