Minor scale (English notation)

A diatonic scale, the counterpart of the major scale. It is characterized by a minor third in the third degree of the scale. There are three types of minor scales: (1) Natural minor scale: Originating from the Aeolian mode of the church mode, it is a diatonic scale. (2) Harmonic minor scale: The seventh note of the natural minor scale is raised by a semitone to form an ascending leading tone. (3) Melodic minor scale: The sixth and seventh notes are raised by a semitone in the ascending progression, and the descending progression has the same form as the natural minor scale.

全音階の一つで、長音階に相対するもの。音階の第三度に短三度をもつことを特徴とする。短音階には次の3種がある。(1)自然的短音階 教会旋法のエオリア旋法に由来するもので、全音階的なもの。(2)和声的短音階 自然的短音階の第七音を半音高めて、上向導音の形としたもの。(3)旋律的短音階 上行進行において第六音と第七音を半音高め、下行進行においては自然的短音階と同じ形をとるもの。
