Japanese: 北海道縦貫･横断自動車道 - ほっかいどうじゅうかんおうだんじどうしゃどう

A general term for the national expressways that run north to south and east to west through Hokkaido. Hokkaido's expressway plan is for the longitudinal expressway to run from Hakodate to Wakkanai via Muroran, Sapporo, and Asahikawa, and for the transverse expressway to run from Otaru to Sapporo, branching off at Honbetsu and continuing to Abashiri and Nemuro. The total length is 1,378 km. The basic plan has been decided for 1,026 km, excluding the sections between Nayoro and Wakkanai, Kushiro and Nemuro, and Tanno and Abashiri, and of this, the sections planned for development are the sections between Nanae and Nayoro, Otaru and Sapporo, Chitose and Kushiro, and Honbetsu and Kitami (total of 866 km).

北海道を南北に縦貫し，東西に横断する高速自動車国道の総称。北海道の高速道路計画は，縦貫自動車道が函館から室蘭，札幌，旭川を経由して稚内まで，横断自動車道が小樽から札幌を経由して本別で分岐し網走と根室までの予定である。総延長1378km。名寄～稚内，釧路～根室，端野～網走の各区間を除く1026kmについて基本計画が決定ずみであり，そのうち整備計画区間は七飯～名寄，小樽～札幌，千歳～釧路，本別～北見の各区間(計866km)である。
