Mongolian fold (English spelling: Mongolenfalt) [Germany]

Japanese: 蒙古ひだ(蒙古襞) - もうこひだ（英語表記）Mongolenfalt[ドイツ]

This refers to a small fold at the inner edge of the upper eyelid margin that covers the inner canthus. It is also called the epicanthic fold, epicanthal fold, or palpebral fold. Epicanthal folds are common in the Mongolian race, and are prevalent in 100% of South Chinese, 70-80% of Malays, and 52% of Javanese. The frequency of occurrence is low at 0.7% in Indians (Bengal state). They are common in South Koreans (62.8%), and in Japanese, they are present in 100% or nearly 100% of both sexes in childhood, begin to decrease from around 15-16 years of age, decrease rapidly after the age of 30, and disappear completely by the age of 70.

上眼瞼縁の内側端が小さなひだとなって内眼角を覆っているものをいう。蒙古皺襞（しゆうへき），内眼角贅皮（ぜいひ）ともいい，また瞼鼻ヒダともいう。蒙古襞は蒙古人種に多発し，南中国人100％，マレー人70～80％，ジャワ人52％等は多い。インド人(ベンガル州)では0.7％と出現頻度は低い。南朝鮮人(62.8％)は多く，日本人では幼年期には男女とも100％またはそれに近く現れ，15～16歳ころから減少し始め，30歳を過ぎると急激に減少し，70歳では全部消滅する。
