1521‐96 (Taiei 1‐Keicho 1) A military commander in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. He was known by the names Katsumura, Harumura, and Masamura, and later became a monk and took the name Banryusai. He was a Hyobu-tayu (Minister of War). He was born in Shimodate, Hitachi. He initially belonged to the Yuki clan, but around 1584 (Tensho 12) he came into contact with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and in 1590 he was granted 47,000 koku of land in Makabe, Hitachi, and Haga counties in Shimotsuke. At the same time, he handed over his estates to his adopted son (and younger brother) Katsutoshi and retired. He was granted 16,000 koku (retirement allowance) at Kugeta Castle in Hitachi.
