Dal'verzin Tepe (English spelling)
The remains of a capital city dating from the 3rd century BC to the 7th century AD, located south of the Denau in the Surkhan River basin, Republic of Uzbekistan, Central Asia. It is about 1 km north to south and 0.5 km east to west. By 1967, GA Pugachenkova had clarified the state of the city from the end of the Bactrian period to the early Kushan period, which lasted for 200 years around the time of Christ. Many clay statues were used in the Kushan period up to the 3rd century, and molded terracotta statues of goddesses derived from the local beliefs have also been excavated. The clay statues were excavated at a site said to be the remains of a Buddhist temple in the city, and in addition to huge Buddha statues, the so-called Khalcayayan clay statues also include secular statues thought to represent rulers, and are representative of the Kushan period and the art before and after it in northern Bactria, north of the Amu Darya.
