A woman who appears in the legend of the founding of Rome. When the newly founded Rome by Romulus (→Romulus and Remus) was attacked by the Sabines led by King Titus Tatius, she was the daughter of the commander of the advance guard fort on the Capitoline Hill. She fell in love with the enemy king or was promised gifts and lured the enemy troops into the fort, but after they captured the fort, the Sabines piled shields on top of her and crushed her to death as punishment for her treason.
