The world's largest soap and detergent manufacturer, based in the United States. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1837 by William Procter and James Gamble, the company gained a reputation for its high quality products, and received large orders from the Confederate Army during the Civil War, which established the company's foundations. The soap "Ivory," released in 1879, became a best-seller and is still sold today. In 1932, the company also purchased a patent for synthetic detergent from Germany and began selling commercial products, and in 1946, it released the synthetic detergent for households, "Tide," which became an explosive hit.

アメリカにある世界最大のセッケン･洗剤メーカー。本社オハイオ州シンシナティ。1837年，プロクターWilliam ProcterとギャンブルJames Gambleの2人によって設立された。品質の良さで評判となり，また南北戦争のときに南軍から大量注文を受け会社の基礎が固まった。その後79年に発売したセッケン〈アイボリーIvory〉がベストセラーとなり今日でも売られている。また合成洗剤についても1932年ドイツから特許を買い業務用製品を販売し，46年には家庭用合成洗剤〈タイドTide〉を発売して爆発的な人気を得た。
