Omiyashi (English spelling) Seychelles palm English
A tall palm tree famous for producing the world's largest seeds. Also called sea palm, it is also called futago palm or double coconut due to the unique shape of its seeds. It is native to the Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean, and is one genus and one species. The trunk reaches a height of 30 m and a diameter of 40 cm, and is swollen at the base. The leaves are palmate, obovate-rhombic, 4-7 m long, 2-4 m wide, shallowly lobed, and the lobes are 30-40 cm long, fan-shaped, and bipartite at the tip. It is said that one leaf is produced every year. The flowers are dioecious. The spadix is ​​axillary and about 1 m long.
