A former town in Abu District in the Tama River basin in northern Yamaguchi Prefecture. The town's main fishing port is Esaki, which is served by the Sanin Main Line. Yellowtail and sea bream farming is popular here. Rice, chestnuts, peaches, and pears are also produced here. The coast is part of the Kita-Nagato Coast Quasi-National Park. In March 2005, the town was incorporated into Hagi City along with the towns of Susa, Asahi, Fukuei, Kawakami, and Mutsumi in Abu District. Area: 78.21 km2. Population: 3,665 (2003). 山口県北部，田万川流域の阿武郡の旧町。中心は山陰本線が通じる漁港の江崎。ハマチ，タイなどの養殖が盛ん。米，クリ，モモ，ナシも産する。海岸は北長門海岸国定公園に属する。2005年３月阿武郡須佐町，旭村，福栄村，川上村，むつみ村と萩市へ編入。78.21km2。3665人（2003）。
