Wang Manqing - Wang Manqing

…A scholar of the classics in the Qing Dynasty of China. His pen name was Boshen and he was called Manqing. He was from Gaoyou, Jiangsu. In 1799 (the 4th year of the Jiaqing era), he was awarded the highest grades and became a Jinshi (a scholar) and rose to the position of Minister of Works. He inherited the knowledge of his father Wang Niansun, and was particularly knowledgeable in the study of characters and phonology, and was known as the Gaoyou Wang family father and son. In fact, Wang Niansun's father, Wang Anguo (Duke Wensu), was also a highly educated official who rose to the position of Minister of Personnel, and Wang Yinzhi's scholarship is the quintessence of the scholarship of three generations of the Wang family. His 15 volumes of Jingyi Shuwen and 10 volumes of Jingchuan Commentaries are particularly famous, but Jingyi Shuwen, which explains the interpretations of the classics, is titled "Reciting What Hears," and it is often difficult to see which parts are original to Wang Yinzhi, as he is willing to be the founder of his father Wang Niansun's scholarship. …

…中国，清の経学者。字は伯申，曼卿と号した。江蘇高郵の人。嘉慶4年(1799)最優秀の成績で進士となり，工部尚書にまでなった。父王念孫の学を受けついで，ことに文字･音韻の学に詳しく，高郵王氏父子と並称された。実は王念孫の父，王安国(文粛公)も吏部尚書にまでなった篤学の高官で，王引之の学問は王氏3代の学の精華である。《経義述聞》15巻，《経伝釈詞》10巻はとくに名高いが，経書の訓詁を説く《経義述聞》は，すなわち〈聞けるを述ぶ〉を書名とするように，すすんで父王念孫の学問の祖述者であろうとしているため，どこが王引之の独創であるかを見とどけることが，しばしば困難となる。…
