Michiyo Tachibana

Japanese: 橘三千代 - たちばなのみちよ

A female court attendant who served five generations of Emperors, from Emperor Tenmu to Emperor Gensho. She was also known as Agatainukai Michiyo. She was the daughter of Agatainukai Azumahito. She first married Prince Mino and gave birth to Prince Katsuragi (later known as Tachibana Moroe). As the guardian of Emperor Mommu, she had great influence in the Imperial Court, and in 708 she was given the surname Tachibana. She later married Fujiwara no Fuhito and gave birth to Asukabehime (Empress Komyo).

天武天皇から元正(げんしょう)天皇の５代に仕えた女官。県犬養(あがたいぬかい)三千代とも。県犬養東人(あずまひと)の娘。初め美努(みの)王に嫁し，葛城(かずらき)王（後の橘諸兄(もろえ)）を産んだ。文武天皇のお守役として宮中に非常な勢力があり，708年橘の姓を賜った。のち藤原不比等(ふひと)に嫁し，安宿媛(あすかべひめ)（光明(こうみょう)皇后）を産んだ。
